Snowy Art

Here is my artwork for Make some Art Monday!

Yes I know it is Tuesday, but yesterdays plan was waaaaay tooo complicated to get finished. I wanted to do a collage, but it was too fiddly to cut out with the scissors... so I ended up doing it as a pen and ink. Done. Simple. Satisfied. Aah.
I was inspired by the starck contrasts of the wintry trees in my local park and the crunchy almost perfect snow.

Thought that I really should capture the memory of our 2 snow days in this last week in some art.
I love the art by Klimt and particularly his tree of life painting, so did my artwork inspired by this:

A cold and snowy weekend!

A snowy and cold weekend!
It was back to work on Friday for me.
My friends turned up for the weekend with this card for me - a hallmark card from their "what the butler saw" series. I took a photo of it to share it with you for my 8/365 photo. I think they thought it was rather a shame that I had to be in work on Friday as they had no snow at the time, where they live and therefore had a very easy drive here.

It had been a scary journey to work for me in minus 11 temperature degrees C.
On the cold-o-meter that is very cold.
Someone didn't judge their stopping distance on the way out of a side street and nearly slid out into me!
Thankfully I swerved into the middle lane and the driver behind me managed to miss us both!
I was very pleased to get to work safe and I am very glad to be home now - and to spend some time with my friends Claire and Jeremy this weekend!
A weekend of relaxing, getting up late, coffee, croissants, shop til we drop,a lovely meal out to celebrate Claire's birthday, lots of time for chatting and laughter and dvds on the sofa.

It has been an almost purrfect weekend - as poor Claire increasingly became more allergic to Tudur. Oops.
It has been a bit of a burrfect weekend too - as it has been very very cold outside.
It still looks a beautiful winter wonderland, outside though, doesn't it?

Snow day again!

I had yesterday at home again with another snow day.

I did some tidying, making a dent in some of my own filing that I wanted to do, so it was great to have a bit of time to sort and file and de-clutter some of the stuff from my last job.
I also met my sister and brother in law for lunch and gave her her Christmas cake - as a happy new year cake!!
she said it was perfect timing as she had just finished her Christmas cake!Here is the photo of the cake as my 7/365

SNOW day!!!!

We had a SNOW day today!
It is so rare here. The last time most schools in my city were closed,about 3 years ago, and the one I worked in at the time was the only one open!
We had a magical day building snowmen and coming inside to dry off before going out to play again! It was more magical because it was "world book day" that day so everyone was dressed up as their favourite book character! So, imagine children dressed in princess fairy outfits AND hats, gloves, scarves and cats and wellies, building snowmen!
A precious memory.
I was really pleased to have a snow day, as driving home last night for over 3 hours instead of about 20 minutes was NO fun at all.
After I had heard first thing this morning that my school was closed I phoned a local school to me to see if they were open.
They were closed.
So I had a SNOW day!
I went for a walk, wearing my wellies and met up with my bloggy friend Rachel over at myslightlycrazyworld.

Her little boy was not in the least bit interested in walking in the snow at all.
It was beautifully crunchy undrefoot too. Rachel and I loved it!
We found this amazing old man face snow sculpture in the park too.I had to take a photo for my 6/365.
Amazing isn't he?

A snowy day and a long drive home

I woke up to snow falling. We so rarely get big snowflakes that settle, it was quite a surprise.
I got to work OK.
8 miles takes about 20 minutes.
We had a good day at work and some built snowmen at playtime and large snowballs that quickly grew and grew and grew.
Left work in about 4 inches of snow.
The journey home took just over 3 hours.
Not so OK.
Cars in long queues in an almost gridlock, slipping and sliding on the ice.
Nice to be safe and warm now in my wee house.
Tudur is purring.
I am very tired.
